Being an entrepreneur is very appealing but not everyone can become one. One of the quickest and easiest ways to become a successful entrepreneur is by working at home through a home-based online business.

Firstly, you need to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. After the evaluation, you can now determine if you can manage your own online business. Aside from the evaluation process, you must know how to plan, organize, staff, and control. These are your responsibilities as an entrepreneur. You should be able to work alone because now you’re the boss and all business decisions will be made by you.

Entrepreneurs are known to be self-starters. Organizing your time is a difficult task but if you want to run a home-based online business, you should be able to do it. Remember, you don’t have a boss that you can rely on. This is your business and you have to be responsible for it at all times.

Running your own business would also mean that you have to deal with different kinds of persons. You will surely encounter demanding customers, moody vendors, and an unreliable staff. To become a successful home-based business entrepreneur, you should know how to deal with them individually. You should know the quirks of every person that you encounter so that you can address them and the situation correctly.

Running an online business is all about your attitude and character. According to some experts who conducted researches about the characteristics of entrepreneurs, there are certain traits that an entrepreneur should possess. As mentioned earlier, entrepreneurs are risk-takers, self-starters, and know how to deal with different kinds of people.

Those traits and characteristics are not enough. You have to have more than that. Another trait that you should possess is being an excellent decision maker. Some situations are filled with pressures but despite the pressures, you still need to make an informed and wise decision. As owner of your online business, you have no one else to rely on when it comes to business related decisions.

To be an effective online business entrepreneur, you must have lots of energy and superior work ethic. Owning an online business may mean working even on late hours and on the weekends. However, you must not be pressured of your tasks. View them as challenges and strive even harder. Your efforts will be rewarded once you see the profits rolling in.  

If you already know the responsibilities of an entrepreneur, then you can assess if you can become successful in an online business. Working at home through a home-based entrepreneur business requires dedication and hard work. You must be able to monitor your finances, tasks, inventory, work schedules, and many others. After reading an article on Yahoo! about 4 people who retired before the age of 40, I thought I wanted the same! They are young, they spend time doing what they want, when they feel like it, they’re not millionaires and yet they are not obliged to wake up every morning, work their butt off to pay debts that accumulate anyway!

What these 4 people who were interviewed had in common was that they all wrote a book about “being your own boss” and “retiring young“, how those things are attainable. And like I said previously they are not millionaires but they had a project that allowed them to sustain a lifestyle without working.

One of them was investing in real estate while another was in stock trading and eforex. See the point is to create a residual income, whether it’s interests, rents, bonus, commissions, etc. That’s why working for yourself allow you to achieve this freedom and live this lifestyle!

I’m 29, no job, overwhelmed by debts and collection agencies’ calls, trying hard to make it in the internet marketing world. I started with a little extra cash and want that extra cash to become more than just “extra”! That’s why I created this blog and website.

While many of you have already read the many benefits of working from home:

• Wake up and go to work when you want;
• No commute time from home to workplace;

• Spend more time with family and friends

There is one HUGE benefit of owning an online business as opposed to a business that you operate offline: YOU CAN RUN IT FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD AS LONG AS YOU HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION!

So I’ve decided to start a journey of traveling and finance myself through my online income. I will save on rent and  utilities bills. All I need is my laptop and some changing clothes.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m not running away from my financial responsibilities. I just want to enjoy life, not be stressed at work and live to pay bills. I will take care of the matter when I am capable of.

I live in the capital city of Canada that is Ottawa. To keep my citizenship, I must not leave the country for over a period of 6 months. Therefore I was thinking of going to Toronto and from there head to New York.

And there are ways to travel for free. That will be a subject of another blog entry. For now let’s start with a destination point!

I was looking to earn some extra cash fast. So I’ve decided to go through the ads. Every section, every ad.

To my great surprise what do I find!? An ad about a market research company looking for participants for a study! Compensation offered was $100 for 2.5 hours.

So I called right away and the person who took my call asked me a few questions about me and about how often I use my credit cards and if I accumulate points and/or rewards. And at the end, he said: “Great. I can set you up for Monday in Group A at 7h30pm, how’s that sound?” Awesome!

I just came back from the seance.  As this article about Where to Find Paid Focus Discussion Groups mentions, classified ads are a great place to look! Whether in the newspaper or even online! I actually found this study on Craigslist!

What you need to understand is that the questions they ask you over the phone are qualification questions. They must  get opinions from specific target users in order for their evaluation to reflect the perception of their regular consumers. If the study is about Kraft Dinner’s Mac&Cheese and you never or rarely buy that product, you won’t be qualified for the study. You wouldn’t possess enough knowledge about the product in order to form a valid opinion.

See paid discussion groups are organized in order to gather feedback on the current product and to gather new ideas on how to improve it. They want a group of people (usually 6-8 people) that are acquainted with the product. The person conducting the seance is there to ask questions that the product’s company wants to know about and people are paid to give their opinions, whether positive or negative! They want to know how the product is perceived and what its flaws are so that they can launch an improved version according to the needs of the market.

In a way, taking part of a focus discussion group allows you to voice your opinion about something you regularly use and to give ideas on what they should do to better suit your needs. And they actually listen! This way is better than calling customer service and make a complaint! Your opinion really has an impact. Just like paid surveys.

It’s really easy money made: $100 for 2.5 hours! And I don’t even have a Ph.D!
